We work with Oak and Walnut, both species native to North America. Our oak is available in a natural finish, in black, or tinted in hazel or smoked tones, and our walnut comes natural or smoked. Our natural finishes are environmentally friendly, oil-based products formulated to highlight and preserve the natural beauty of our woods.
Care & maintenance
Solid Wood
At Vaste, we work almost exclusively with solid wood and natural oils for our furniture. This means your pieces will require a little extra attention over the years, but it also means they will be infinitely refurbishable. A well cared for Vaste piece should outlive your grandchildren. To best maintain the surface of your table, we suggest following our care instructions.
Regular Care:
Clean with a clean, damp cloth, then wipe with a dry cloth to thoroughly dry the surface. Occasionally, or as needed, use Osmo Cleaning Soap (diluted 1:10 with water) to remove more stubborn stains. Household cleaners that may contain harsh chemicals, alcohol, or ink removers should never be used on the surface.
Deep Cleaning:
To restore the original luster to a surface that has developed a patina, you can use Osmo Wax Cleaner. Apply with a clean, white cloth over the entire surface, then wipe in the direction of the wood grain using the same cloth. The table will be dry to the touch in 2 hours and ready for use after 24 hours.
Upholstery
Our standard options
We source our leather from Sørensen, a Danish leather house. Most of our standard colours are Spectrum, a full-grain, semi-aniline leather made from European hides and coloured with water-based aniline dyes. It is soft to the touch, with visible pores and a light protective finish against stains and fading. Spectrum is OEKO-TEX® and Blue Angel certified, produced to Leather Working Group standards, and free from PFAS and phthalates. Beyond our standard colours, it comes in more than 80 shades curated by Note Design Studio, and other Sørensen leathers are available on request.
Care & maintenance
Sørensen Leather
Our upholstery uses leather from Sørensen's Spectrum collection. It is ready to use as soon as it arrives and needs very little care: left alone, it ages beautifully for years.
Regular Care:
From time to time, wipe the leather with a clean cloth lightly dampened with water, or with a baby wipe. If something spills, blot it immediately with a clean, dry, absorbent cloth. Don't rub.
Avoid oils, polishes, bar soap, saddle soap, household detergents and chemical products.
Protect from direct sunlight, excessive heat and sharp objects.
Long-Term Care:
Spectrum is a semi-aniline leather with a light protective finish, so it never needs deep cleaning or conditioning. Regular care is all it asks for.

Signature combinations
Black on Black
Bold and captivating, black on black has a strong presence in contrasts with lighter rooms or will seamlessly blend with other dark tones for a moody atmosphere.
Black walnut and black leather
A timeless classic, like black on black, the darker tones will lend themselves to a moody atmosphere but the chocolate brown wood allows for a warmer traditional aesthetic.
White Oak and Tan
Warm, natural, earthy tones, reminiscent of Scandinavian styles. A great versatile option for creating a cozy and contemporary atmosphere in any living space
White oak and Cream
A lighter tone on tone option not unlike white oak and tan if you want a softer and more subdued feel.
